People in the area love and respect Poh Lieng as their father (Poh ). At BaanBooLOo we prepared this imposing masculine energy room on the ground floor of the Thai house so that Poh Lieng can meet people who need help and call him at night time for assistance - but don’t worry. You will sleep undisturbed in his room. We have a reception area to take care of all our guests in modern times ;). The design of this room is masculine and evokes the presence of powerful ancestral forces.

Baan Khao Room or The Rice Barn AKA On Booking system as: “Villa Double or Twin Room Open Air Lanna Style” We never forget that Chiang Mai is located next to the magnificent Mount Doi Suthep. Tents, outdoor living & fresh air and an unrivalled proximity to nature are possible. With that in mind BaanBooLOo welcomes those who want to experience maximum outdoor living to Baan Khao where you can still enjoy home comforts such as hot showers, electricity and WIFI.. Baan Khao is an antique rice barn on stilts with quirky character wooden utility features which we decided to leave open to view when it was relocated from nearby rice farm to BaanBooLOo. It has a weathered but effective old original teak tiled roof and ONLY ONE wall at the rear is closed. The rest is totally open. Privacy is afforded by traditional roller blinds and long curtains around the sleeping area. Sleep comfortably with the protection of a large mosquito net but don't be surprised if the odd butterfly is flying through your room at break of dawn. To your right when you wake a partial view of Doy Suthep mountain through palm trees on clear days.

Mae Lieng Room AKA On Booking system as: “Deluxe double room with lounge” Mae Lieng is the Northern Thai term for the wife of the community leader. People in the area love and respect Mae Lieng as their Mother (Mae ). At BaanBooLOo we prepared this special great room upstairs in the front of Thai house so that Mae Lieng can meet her friends or a group of women workers can sit and chat together whilst weaving silks or learning to prepare elaborate local dishes for their husbands. This room projects a matriarchal energy with an open front view to the quiet lane ( Soi ) outside the house. There is ample space and sleeping for most families. 2 rooms with a huge private veranda area. It is private and intimate suiting a family or group of friends.

You are located to the rear of the garden next to temple Wat Pra Sat. You need to be polite and quiet for in the morning you will probably wake to hear monks chanting or even waving and chatting to you over the garden wall. Baan Khao is comfortable and spiritual. You are high up on the stilts - the traditional form of protection from nature - this can also help acclimatise trekkers for more challenging in the deep jungle and for all who sleep there to get all natural energy from the earth. Sleep on a king size mattress or twin mattresses on a sturdy mahogany Thai style platform. This is a beautiful natural life experience. A blissful spot to sleep, meditate and do yoga with nature all around you. Baan Khao is the owners' favourite room in the house a kind of heaven on Earth. Baan Khao is the ideal Thai style sleeping or secluded honeymoon environment. It's private, secluded and romantic. A treasure of old and new. It has a wonderful outdoor bathroom, toilet and shower which in time will be engulfed in part by the bamboos growing through the centre of what is an open air annexed room. You will never wish for air conditioning in Baan Khao. Even in the hottest season in Thailand a fan should suffice. For fresh air lovers this is as good as it gets in this old city!

NOTE: At the moment it has to be said there is a new temple being built next door – work is not noisy currently an issue and we will advise if this changes. Sleepwalkers, heavy drinkers and young children beware! Three of the walls have large open spaces.

It is flanked by tall palm trees giving a pleasant cooling effect from the midday sun and a partial view of Doy Suthep mountain on clear days.
